2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck is a full-size truck with a big personality and lots of power. The 2022 Silverado 1500 saw some big changes and updates. It arrived with a newly styled front end, and the LT and above received updates in the cabin, including some new tech features. Here's a look at some of the details for the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado.
Trim Levels
The entry-level Work Truck comes with 17-inch steel wheels, a locking tailgate, and 12 tie-downs in the bed. Stepping up to the Custom gets you body-colored exterior trim, 20-inch alloy wheels, and remote keyless entry. The Custom Trail Boss has skid plates, a Z71 off-road suspension, and Rancho shocks, while the LT has chrome exterior trim and 17-inch alloy wheels. Choose the RST for body-colored trim and LED fog lights and taillights or the LT Trail Boss for LED headlights and fog lights. The ZR2 has 33-inch all-terrain tires, and the LTZ comes with a power tailgate and power-folding mirrors.
Engine
Power for the Silverado 1500 starts with a 2.7-liter turbo four-cylinder with 310 horsepower. A 5.3-liter V-8 that generates 355 horsepower is available for the Trail Boss trim and above, and there's also a 6.2-liter V-8 with 420 horsepower. The final engine in the Silverado 1500 lineup is a turbo-diesel 3.0-liter six-cylinder that churns out 277 horsepower and works with a 10-speed automatic transmission. For most models, rear-wheel drive comes standard, with four-wheel drive available as an option.
Performance
If you're looking for speed, the 6.2-liter V-8 is the quickest. It will propel the 1500 to 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds. The turbo-diesel has the slowest acceleration, but it can tow up to 13,300 pounds. The 5.3-liter engine still offers impressive towing capabilities with an 11,500-pound maximum, and the turbo four-cylinder can pull 9,500 pounds.
Interior
There's room for up to six people in the Silverado's larger cabs. Tthe WT's cabin comes with just the basics. Moving up the lineup to the Custom gets you cloth upholstery, and the LT adds heated front seats and a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel. The LT Trail Boss comes with a power-adjustable driver's seat and heated front seats, and the LTZ upgrades to leather upholstery and adds ventilated front seats. You'll get a 13.4-inch touchscreen in the LT trim and up, and it uses an enhanced Google-based voice control system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, along with several USB ports.
Safety Features
Every 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic braking, lane-keeping assist, and pedestrian detection. A following distance indicator is also a standard feature, and every trim has automatic high-beam headlights. A rear seat reminder alerts the driver to remind them to check the rear seat before walking away from the truck. GM's teen driver system is also standard. The available Safety Package comes with an HD surround-view camera system, trailer camera views, rear cross-traffic alert braking, a blind-spot monitoring system that works with a trailer, and rear parking sensors with pedestrian detection.
